Minting Prerequisites

To mint an NFT on the Ethereum blockchain, you'll need both Ether (ETH), the currency used on by Ethereum,  and a digital wallet that can hold your ETH and NFT.

The easiest way to do both at the same time is to download the MetaMask wallet. It’s available as a browser plugin and as an Android or iOS mobile app. Use MetaMask to create a wallet and buy ETH. The detailed steps are described below.

Creating a Wallet

Your Ethereum wallet will have a public address on the Ethereum network, which is where you can send and receive tokens like Ether and NFTs.

After installing MetaMask, it walks you through the steps to create a wallet. If you already have a MetaMask wallet you are ready to go.

Note there are many alternative digital wallets (e.g. Coinbase, Rainbow, etc.). Our minting application only supports MetaMask at this time.

Buying ETH

The easiest way to buy ETH is to use a crypto exchange.

We recommend Coinbase.com for beginners. Note that a Coinbase.com account is different from a Coinbase Wallet account. A Coinbase.com account is for Coinbase's exchange, which allows you to trade currencies like USD for cryptocurrencies like ETH.

  1. Create an account on Coinbase.com and buy some ETH.

    • A N( . )( . )DZ NFT cost .05 ETH.

    • Make sure that you have more ETH than that for the total cost of the mint. Specifically, have an additional .03 ETH (approximately $50 at the time time of this writing) in your wallet for gas - a total of .053 ETH.

Why? Each Ethereum transaction requires "gas," the network fees that go into processing blockchain transactions. N( . )( . )DZ has no control over gas pricing. Gas fees vary by the type of transaction and depending on the level of activity in the Ethereum network. Your MetaMask wallet will provide an estimate of the gas fees when minting N( . )( . )DZ.

Current gas prices (since August of 2022), have been at an all time low, averaging $1.60 per transaction. Sacré bleu! In other words, it’s an ideal time to buy N( . )( . )DZ!

  2. Once you've bought your ETH, transfer it to the address of the account in your MetaMask wallet (e.g. using Coinbase.com’s “Send” feature). Now you're ready to mint a N( . )( . )DZ NFT!

Minting

When you "mint" an NFT, you're interacting with a smart contract on the blockchain and making a transaction to create a new token under that contract. The transaction records your ownership of the specific NFT(s) you mint. For N( . )( . )DZ you can either mint through our website (beginner-friendly) or directly through Etherscan (more advanced). Our website supports the MetaMask wallet. Etherscan supports a wide variety of wallets.

Website (Beginner-Friendly)

The easiest way to mint N( . )( . )DZ is through our website. The minting interface handles a lot of the complexity for you (can we get a oui OUI!)

  1. Press the “Mint N( . )( . )DZ!” button on our website to launch the minting page.
Note: When minting on a mobile device, make sure to use MetaMask’s  built-in browser to launch the minting page.

  2. Press the "Connect Wallet" button to connect with your MetaMask wallet.

  3. Once your wallet is connected, the minting page will display your wallet’s address and the number of NFTs available for minting.

  4. Select the number of N( . )( . )DZ you'd like to mint then press the "Mint" button. MetaMask will provide an estimate of the gas fee and ask you to approve the transaction.

  5. In most cases, the transaction should take a few moments and then complete. MetaMask will also confirm that the transaction has completed. Félicitations! You've just minted your first NFT!

If gas prices are surging or the contract hits the total limit of N( . )( . )DZ to mint, there is a possibility that your transaction will fail, which means that you will lose some or even all of the gas you paid. The reason that this scenario can happen is that any transaction on Ethereum requires gas to execute—you always have to pay for the computations you're enacting on the network. Some common reasons transactions can fail are documented here.

Etherscan (Advanced)

If you'd like to interact directly with the smart contract, you can mint N( . )( . )DZ on Etherscan. Etherscan only supports Metamask or WalletConnect, so Coinbase Wallet will not work for this method.

  1. Go to our smart contract on Etherscan. Note the green checkmark on the "Contract" tab to indicate that the contract’s source code is deployed and verified.

  2. Select “Contract” and press the "Read Contract" button. Make sure “saleIsActive” is set to “true”.

  3. Press the "Write Contract" button in order to prepare for minting. Connect your wallet to Etherscan by pressing the "Connect to web3" button. Once you're connected, you can start creating transactions under the smart contract.

  4. Now it's time to do the minting!

    1. Select the contract function named “mint”. Two fields will be displayed: “mint” and “count”

    2. The price per N( . )( . )DZ is 0.05 ETH. Multiply that by the number of  N( . )( . )DZ you’d like to mint (up to twenty per wallet) and enter that total in the payableAmount field. Enter the corresponding number of N( . )( . )DZto mint int the  count field.
For example, to mint two N( . )( . )DZ, enter “.15” as the payableAmount and “2” as the count.

  5. In most cases, the transaction should take a few moments and then complete. Hooray, you've just minted your first NFT!

Viewing Your N( . )( . )DZ

You won't be able to see your N( . )( . )DZ immediately after minting! You’ll see a placeholder image in your wallet until the next “reveal”. Freshly minted N( . )( . )DZ will be revealed every two days.  Once that's happened, you will be able to view your amazing N( . )( . )DZ in your wallet and on marketplaces like OpenSea and Zora!
